Jeff Primos
President + Public Safety
Jeff currently serves as the UMKC School of Dentistry’s Director of Business Affairs. He is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and facilities of a professional school that has served the Kansas City community for over 120 years.
He is active in the community, serving as a board member for several other community organizations including the soon-to-launch We Development Credit Union.
Becca McQuillen
Housing
Becca was introduced to Marlborough in her roles as coordinator of Legal Aid of Western Missouri’s Adopt-A-Neighborhood program.
Becca led the Coalition’s Housing Task Force for 3 years and she served as the Board secretary for 2 years. She is passionate about providing economic opportunities for people who live in Marlborough and has met so many wonderful neighbors who support and care for one another.
Jensie Culton
Vice President + Arts/Culture
Jensie and her family moved to Marlborough five years ago. She is passionate about empowering and supporting families and children in Marlborough by providing equitable, accessible resources for healthy food, education, economic development, and exploration of nature and the arts.
Jensie is also passionate about the cinnamon rolls from Vee's Sweets Treats in Marlborough Village. Jensie and her husband, Thomas, have two daughters and two sons. They own the video production company, Thomas Bain Productions. Jensie is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. She loves being a homeschool teacher for her children, which includes them all learning the Cherokee language together.
Pastor Marvin Kirkwood
Public Saftey
Pastor joined the Coalition Board of Directors in November 2020. He is the founder and pastor of Contagious Life Church which recently relocated from 76th & Troost to 99th & Holmes. He has led many community programs over the years focused on youth development along with conflict mediation and crime reduction. Pastor Kirkwood and his church members are generous and passionate about helping their neighbors. They operate the "Life Mart," a mini-grocery store with all free items. Pastor Kirkwood helped launch the "Treats on Troost" Halloween event in partnership with the Coalition and local businesses.
Nancy Phelps
Treasurer + Marketing
After six years in Kansas City, Nancy and her family moved to Marlborough in 2015. She quickly fell in love with the neighborhood and the people that make this a true community.
Nancy is the director of community impact at JE Dunn Construction, where she promotes corporate and employee engagement throughout JE Dunn’s 21 offices. She works with the Dunn Family Foundation and JE Dunn’s corporate philanthropy.
Kim Curry
Housing
Kim Curry joined the Coalition’s Board of Directors in May 2021. She retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in 2020. Kim’s FAA career started in Kansas City and then took her to Washington DC. She moved to Marlborough when she retired. Soon after moving to Marlborough, she became active in the Coalition’s Public Health & Safety and Housing Task Forces.
Kim is no stranger to Marlborough. Under the Curry Development Group, she was a pioneer of housing redevelopment in the neighborhood by building new single-family homes on Prospect Avenue from 8300 to 8400. She has plans underway to build additional homes north of the existing houses.
Tonya Slavens
Beautification + Volunteers
Tonya and her husband Bryan first moved to Marlborough in 1990 when the opportunity arose to buy their first home. They made the move from Kansas to Missouri - the best decision ever!
Tonya is passionate about encouraging people to intentionally get involved, get to know their neighbors, beautify their space, and build community connectivity. She has been married 30 years, has four adult children, three grand children, is active in her local church, and would much rather hike or bike a trail than watch tv.
Johnnie Wilson
Public Saftey
CEO and President of Wilson Brother’s Entertainment joined the Board of Directors in November 2020. His company owns and operates the Rain Restaurant & Bar at 80th & Troost. Mr. Wilson has served the community through many non-profit organizations.
Mr. Wilson serves as the Coalition’s liaison to the South Kansas City Alliance.

Diane and her spouse operated an organic vegetable farm in Marlborough for 15 years. They renovated the former Mama Tio’s Restaurant in Marlborough Village and re-opened it as a neighborhood food hall
